The Party Crashers
Remember the White House party crashers, the Salahis? It turns out the family is in the wine business, in Virginia, just under an hour drive from our nation’s capitol. According to their website—and it must be true if I read it on the web—Oasis winery is rated Top 10 in the WORLD.
Wow. Did not know that. They have an American Tribute Shiraz “rated 97 points” that sells for a paltry $150 per bottle, and a couple of sparkling wines (from the "Famed 1988 Vintage" in Virginia) at between $68 and $300 per. Who needs Krug?
I went looking to find out who gave them such lofty ratings. Mssrs. Parker and Tanzer never heard of them. Wine Spectator gives some of their wines ratings as low as 60, though, to be fair, some have scored as high as 85 (shorthand for sucks, but not entirely). Must've been someone else.
Here’s an interesting tidbit: except for the winery’s website, the wines are not available anywhere on WineSearcher.com. No. Where. Strange for one of the Top 10 Wineries in the world, n’est-ce pas?
In the meantime, it seems they are a teensy weensy bit bankrupt, and there will be a grand re-opening of the winery SOON. If you are interested in being a partner in America’s only winery rated Top 10 in the WORLD and owning a piece of the magic in wine country, email: Investor@oasiswine.com
